Excessive Heat for the Southwest; Showers and Thunderstorms for Portions of the Plains and East Coast

Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the eastern two-thirds of the country today along and ahead of a cold front. Some of these storms may result in isolated incidences of severe weather, including flash flooding. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
